Mr. Pfefferle said it might look nice to make consumer goods all the time, because then our GDP goes up, but if people who make consumer goods, like Mr. Pao, don't have capital goods, they can't make consumer goods. Mr. Pao will wake up one morning and his donut-frying machine won't work. He'll call the donut-machine-making store, but they will say, "I'm sorry, Mr. Pao, we don't make capital goods anymore," so then Mr. Pao will be in deep fat.
